Success Stories - Archer
Archer on right
Only a few weeks old Archer and his siblings were thrown from their nest to the ground when somebody cut down their tree.
His siblings were not hurt and were able to return to the wild. Unfortunately Archer could not stand or hold his head up on his own. He had sustained severe nerve damage.
Archer began using his outstretched wings for balance but would collapse after a few steps. After many weeks of physical therapy at ARC, there was a noticeable improvement in his leg strength. During these weeks we also realize that he had a vision problem and that he would never be able to be released.
Archer has become one of our great Educational Ambassador increasing public awareness and knowledge of the Red Shouldered Hawk. He also loves to perform short flight demonstrations.
