Education Programs

Carol shows Scarlet, a Red Tailed Hawk, to campers

Our education programs are designed to encourage interest and concern for Florida's  unique, native and migratory birds of prey. Each program is presented to suit your groups needs and interests.

Why Birds of Prey?

Birds of prey make wonderful study subjects for a variety of reasons. They are attention grabbing, and their flight is a wonder. Our programs focus on raptors, their natural history and their importance to us and our environment. We have found that birds of prey are excellent ambassadors for teaching a variety of subjects, including, but not limited to:
  • Natural History
  • Biology
  • Math & Physics
  • Conservation
  • Art & Photography

Our programs include:

  • Introduction to Floridas's native birds of prey species as well as several migratory species and their specializations.
  • Up close observation of live birds of prey and, at our center, the chance to see our birds free fly.
  • Discussions about habitat, diet, history, and conservation issues.
Our programs can be presented to all age groups and be given off-site or on-site.

Private Events & Bird-Day Parties

ARC offers wildlife programs to schools, scout troops, church groups, civic organizations, retirement centers and other non-profits. They are great for after school programs or Kids Camps. Kids crafts and art projects can be included to further enhance the learning experience.

We are also available for booking for private parties - We can bring birds of your choice, which you can have your photo taken with, and hear a bit of education about these wonderful birds. Or, you can choose to have your party at ARC with our birds in attendance! We love to host birthday (bird-day!) parties at our center.

ArcherPhoto Groups

Photography Groups and Art organizations can enjoy close up viewing of our birds for excellent photography and drawing opportunities.

We have had many wonderful groups of photographers visit, and we are always happy to accommodate photo clubs. We have a variety of perches, and you can observe our birds outdoors or inside. For more information, please visit our  Photography Programs page.

Birds available for programs

We have many different species of birds available to bring to programs - if you would like certain bird, just let us know!

Why do we charge for programs?

The Avian Reconditioning Center is a volunteer driven, 501(c)(3) not for profit organization. We receive no state or federal funding, and  100% of donations go to bird care. Program fees help to keep our doors open, help us care for injured raptors, and educate the public about these amazing animals. We can't do it without your help.
