Only a few weeks old Archer and her siblings were thrown from their nest to the ground when somebody cut down their tree.
Her siblings were not hurt and were able to return to the wild. Unfortunately Archer could not stand or hold her head up on her own. She had sustained severe nerve damage.
Archer began using her outstretched wings for balance but would collapse after a few steps. After many weeks of physical therapy at ARC, there was a noticeable improvement in her leg strength. During these weeks we also realize that she had a vision problem and that she would never be able to be released.
Archer has become one of our great Educational Ambassador increasing public awareness and knowledge of the Red Shouldered Hawk. She also loves to perform short flight demonstrations.
